One A Day Tuesday Tallies #4

Annnddd....it's Tuesday already!

The ripple continues to grow :)
And this week, meet Mac and Cheese...our two orange tabby cats who seem to think this, like every other blanket, is theirs.

Mac is always first to get comfy on something

Just to keep it new and fresh every week I'm starting a new, smaller One A Day project to do along with my ripple blanket.

This is the only hint picture I can give you because I thought of this idea when I was going through my stash last night at 10 pm.

FO Friday #11

After spending most of January making progress on blankets/new starts for the year, I do have another FO to share!

It's my Sensational Lacy Scarf made of size 3 crochet thread, which took forever but I'm quite happy with the result :) Enjoy!

I wish I would've had this ready to photograph on Monday when it was somehow 55 degrees outside (some winter) and sunny! Today it's rather rainy and gloomy outside, ew.

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #3

Time for this week's progress on the granny ripple blanket! Got another 10 rows done (one repeat of each color) so I'm still right on track for this project!

I'm awarding myself worst picture of the week as it was hastily taken this morning (as in 5 min ago) when I remembered it was Tuesday and time for an update! Note the random baby toy in the bottom right, the miscellaneous water bottle next to it as well as the lovely pile of clutter on the couch...oops?

So with that...onward to this week's 10 rows as I chase the little one more since she's likely weeks from crawling, yikes!

WiP Wednesday #8

I've been so sidetracked with bigger projects and the like that I haven't really had a chance to post any real WiP Wednesday entries in a few weeks.

I am working on a Sensational Lacy Scarf for a contest entry and hoping I can finish it by the end of January so it can be entered!

It's about half done since it's a thin fashion scarf but going very, very slow due to crochet thread but I'm loving the outcome of it!

I do have some other FO's to share hopefully soon as they're tests for a few designers so I'm waiting for them to publish the designs and I can link them for everyone.

So yes, the above scarf being that it's going so slow has been keeping me busy in addition to other larger projects I blog about on other days.

I should hopefully be done my green camo blanket in time for next Friday, definitely not this Friday as I had originally hoped. I had wanted to use this past Monday's holiday as a day to just be lazy and crochet but life had other plans in the form of us starting to look at new cars because of other car issues. We figured we'd rather know what we're going to get for a new car and have a plan instead of getting stuck where the one that had to be put in the shop couldn't be fixed and we had to quickly pick one and not be able to think our decision through.

Hope everyone else is having a productive week! Can't wait to wander the blog world and read updates this afternoon!

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #2

I've been missing my crochet the last few days as this weekend had other plans in store. Mainly yesterday because my husband figured "Hey, day off work, let's just sit around the house, be lazy and relax." Sounds great until he went out for something in the morning and on his way back, the brakes went to the floor on the car! Luckily he didn't hit anyone/anything and was able to pump them to get them to come back but the rest of the day was spent waiting for the car to be out of the shop and roaming the car deal test driving SUVs. We got the car's brakes fixed but I think sometime this year it's time we upgrade to a family car that's not 10 yrs old and better for our road trips!

Anyways, random life stories aside, I have updated pictures of my blanket!

Excuse the baby toys/diaper bag in the top left and laundry basket in the top right :-P
I'm in love with this blanket and it's getting big enough to cuddle up with while I work on it! Hopefully next week's picture I can get while it's sitting on our bed to give a better idea of size :)

Even though it's such a long blanket the rows go amazingly quick and I'm able to do my week's worth of color repeats in about a day (sometimes a day and another morning).

Also finished a few more squares for various other blankets that are currently WiP!

Chocolate/Light Blue for an afghan that will be a gift

Star Overlay block for our big "family movie night cuddle blanket"

Another for the family movie night blanket

Block for my Whimsical Wonderland CAL afghan that will eventually go on our chair upstairs. A chair that matches NOTHING in our house but it belonged to my husband's grandfather so I have to make it work haha.

The blocks for the blankets are more of a "One A Week" goal rather than "One A Day" but I thought I'd include them to spice up more than the same old ripple pictures :)

Time for me to post this, get the little one settled, get my breakfast and check out everyone's updates!

FO Friday #10

Blanket #1 for 2012 is finished!

It's a small, carseat sized pink camo blanket for a friend's youngest daughter. I'm working on a second one in green camo for her son. That one should be done by next week!

To which, for the second time I thought: "At least when I'm done with these two, I won't have to make this blanket again since I've done it three times now." Nope, wrong, I have to make a full sized (6 snowflakes by 7 snowflakes) one in pink camo for someone else, haha so that one isn't even started yet.

Blankets to be completed in 2012:
1. Pink camo carseat blanket --COMPLETED JANUARY 2012
2. Green camo carseat blanket (should be done by next week)
3. Pink camo full sized blanket (doesn't need to be done until Christmas so I can take my time)
4. Block A Month blanket for us (going to be a huge 6x6 blanket)
5. Block A Month blanket for a Christmas gift (needs to be complete by November)
6. Ripple blanket for us (should be done by March, it's my One A Day project)
7. Ripple blanket for a Christmas gift (starting after my other ripple is finished sometime in March)
8. Whimsical Wonderland BAM blanket for our living room (starting my January square as soon as my Deramores order arrives which should be soon I believe)

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #1

I've actually never participated in Tuesday Tallies but I started a project at the beginning of the year that I'm using for it. It's my granny ripple blanket that once, finished will go on our bed in the master bedroom!

I'm aiming for 10 rows per week (two rows of each color). The picture I have is actually a week behind because I have done two repeats of color but it's the best quality picture at the moment :) Enjoy!

The blanket (pattern and yarn) actually came in a kit from Herrschners but I've altered it to make it wider and longer (and I added in the brown). After this one is done, I've got yarn lined up to do another (smaller) version of it for someone, not to be mentioned at the moment, for a Christmas gift this year. That's right, I'm planning Christmas gifts already! Trying to get ahead of the game :)

FO Friday #9

Just a quick, small FO for me this week as I already shared a larger one as part of my Year of Projects post last Sunday :)

I whipped up a mile a minute scarf not too long ago. Really not thrilled with the color (had it in my stash and had no clue what to do with it) but I do like the pattern for the most part.

Short and simple post this week as I've been busy busy working on all the blankets I have doing! That and avoiding all the CALs for other blankets I've been eyeing up. Anyone joining in on Sarah London's Wool-Eater CAL? I'm still trying to talk myself OUT of it! Then I keep saying "but it'd make such a random blanket to use a lot of stash yarn for." Must not make another blanket...must not make another blanket...

WiP Wednesday #7

Talk about progress, I can't believe all I've done in the past week! Although, I have been absent from WIP Wednesday for a few weeks due to the holidays I promise you everything in this post was somehow all done in the last week and a half!

Remember that snowflake throw I recently finished? And how I thought I was finished with those motifs? I was wrong! I'm now currently making two carseat sized versions of the throw for a friend's two youngest! One is in pink camoflauge and the other in green camouflage :)

All of the motifs on both blankets are finished through round 4 (of 7 rounds)
The pile of 19 pink camo snowflakes (the 20th is fully complete as a test to see how the final looked)
Here's the green camo
And the pile of green camo snowflakes (again, all completed through round 4)
Hubby had been bothering me to make us a giant blanket for our queen sized bed and I had ordered this kit about a month ago from Herrschners. The kit is enough to make a 48" x 62" blanket with all of the below colors minus the brown so I figured it was a good deal to get a good amount of the yarn for a good price (order the rest later) and I already had two skeins of brown in my stash. It's Herrschners Worsted 8 yarn and I LOVE it for afghans. It's soft and isn't stiff, making you want to wrap up in the blanket as you make it (and it's extremely affordable)!

Ripply Goodness!
Looking from one end to the other
I like this pattern so much I decided to make one as a Christmas gift for the upcoming year. I won't say for who because I'm not sure if they read the blog or not but here's the color palette:

I wanted to use Herrschners Worsted 8 for this as well but with JoAnn's having a $2.95 flat rate shipping deal going on, I opted for Red Heart Super Saver (which I only use when it comes to afghans that get heavy use, I won't use it on other things). The one not Super Saver is the Mint Green which is Bernat Super Value that I already have in my stash.

I'm also 2 Block a Month Afghans this year. One will be for our house and the other will be another Christmas present. Here's a few blocks to show off the color palette for those two projects.

This is the color palette for the blanket staying at our house. It's going to be a massive "family movie night" blanket!

These two squares are part of the second blanket that will be a present. They're just a simpler two color palette.

So that's six blankets, right? Plenty going on, right? Nope, I have one more big project that's going to be in progress once my Stylecraft Special DK Colourpack package arrives from Deramores! I'd link the pack but they're currently sold out on the site so it's not listed right now.

Using my Stylecraft for the 12 blocks in this group.

I'm sure to most, doing all of the above projects seems insane but think of it this way:
  • Both snowflake throws will be finished at the end of January so that's already down to 5 blankets
  • My ripple blanket in progress will be finished by about March (taking the count to 4) and after that's complete, I'll start the other ripple to be done by Christmas.
  • The remaining three blankets are all Block A Month projects so I'm only doing a few blocks per month. Even if I do multiple blocks a day, it's really only 3-4 days/month since I have a few extra blocks to do for the really big family blanket.
Laying it out that way rationalizes it all for me. I do have hopefully two smaller projects in store for this month but they haven't been started yet and will likely go quick once they are started :)

YoP #9

I've been few and far between in the blogging world the past week and a half due to all the holiday madness but I'm back! I know I did a recap of my list last week and I do have a FO to share. That lovely ballet camisole I've been working on? I finished it about a week ago! Here it is!

Yes I have purple lounge pants on, oh well?
I still plan to embellish it with some fabric designs cut with my new Cricut but I need to go get myself the Toolkit for the Cricut first!

One of the Rav groups I'm in is doing a contest for the month of January using our choice of Lisa Gentry scarf patterns. I already had the Sensational Lacy Scarf on my YoP list so hopefully that'll hop on my hook this week!
