WiP Wednesday #10

I've got plenty in progress for this week! I don't THINK the people who I'm making these baby blankets for read the blog but even if they do, I have so many pregnant friends right now that they wouldn't know it was for them or which one was for them so I'll share anyways :).

Here's the beginnings of my Popcorn Stitch Blanket. It's one of my favorite quick go-to blanket patterns when it comes to baby blankets. Both blankets are being made for friends who are among the group who wish to be surprised when it comes to finding out if they're having a boy or girl thus the neutrals in both.

I did try to switch up the neutrals in this one instead of just doing a straight yellow blanket, I chose to do two shades of yellow (both Caron One Pound) to give it a little variety and I have to say I'm loving it so far. It's a subtle difference but enough to give it character.

My other new favorite go-to baby blanket pattern is the Mitered Squares. The squares are all single crochet so they work up so so speedy! I did 12 out of the 20 yesterday so surely by the end of the week I'll have at least the squares completed and hopefully I will have started joining them!

I've also got my mystery square CAL going for the Donna Kay Lacey "A New Twist" Rav group. Here's a progress photo so far. Well, by so far I mean the first day's clue. This post will go up before I have a chance to add the second day's clue onto it.

Also on a sidenote:

I've been eyeing up the new Bernat Waverly for weeks now and telling myself "You do not need to join in the Bernat Waverly CAL/KAL" and guess what...I'm joining in on it when it starts next week.

BUT I HAVE GOOD REASON I PROMISE!

The husband, little one and I went to Michael's over the weekend because they had a good price on a play tunnel that we were going to get. We're in the store and hubby actually asks, "You want to go look at yarn?" My reaction was, "Sure, I"ll go quickly look but I don't think I NEED anything"

FAMOUS. LAST. WORDS.

I walked by the Bernat Waverly display and glanced as I have been doing for weeks except this time it was different. Tons of tiny red "CLEARANCE" stickers caught my eye! Could it be? YES! My Michaels store put Bernat Waverly on clearance! So for that price, how could I really pass up getting the yarn for the CAL and using the blanket as a Christmas present for someone who shall remain nameless!

Thinking I may sneak back over there this week and see about getting a few skeins for myself though :)

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #5

So my ripple blanket is still growing however I need more yarn...argh. And I'm using Herrschners brand so I'm giving it a few weeks to see if they come out with a free shipping promotion but until then I have a new One A Day! Using up some Simply Soft to make a Hexagon Bag for myself :).

The amount of projects I've made using the below colors (as much as I love them) I'm glad this will use up the last bit of each! The purple and aqua have been part of two amigurumi monkeys for baby gifts. The aqua and dark teal were a cowl. The pink was a cardigan.

So more or less these skeins of yarn have had their lifetime dragged out in many projects. It's the end of the line for this stash!

I completed 7 this week and hopefully another 7-10 next week. They whip up so quick, I love them. They're so cute!

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #3

Time for this week's progress on the granny ripple blanket! Got another 10 rows done (one repeat of each color) so I'm still right on track for this project!

I'm awarding myself worst picture of the week as it was hastily taken this morning (as in 5 min ago) when I remembered it was Tuesday and time for an update! Note the random baby toy in the bottom right, the miscellaneous water bottle next to it as well as the lovely pile of clutter on the couch...oops?

So with that...onward to this week's 10 rows as I chase the little one more since she's likely weeks from crawling, yikes!

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #2

I've been missing my crochet the last few days as this weekend had other plans in store. Mainly yesterday because my husband figured "Hey, day off work, let's just sit around the house, be lazy and relax." Sounds great until he went out for something in the morning and on his way back, the brakes went to the floor on the car! Luckily he didn't hit anyone/anything and was able to pump them to get them to come back but the rest of the day was spent waiting for the car to be out of the shop and roaming the car deal test driving SUVs. We got the car's brakes fixed but I think sometime this year it's time we upgrade to a family car that's not 10 yrs old and better for our road trips!

Anyways, random life stories aside, I have updated pictures of my blanket!

Excuse the baby toys/diaper bag in the top left and laundry basket in the top right :-P
I'm in love with this blanket and it's getting big enough to cuddle up with while I work on it! Hopefully next week's picture I can get while it's sitting on our bed to give a better idea of size :)

Even though it's such a long blanket the rows go amazingly quick and I'm able to do my week's worth of color repeats in about a day (sometimes a day and another morning).

Also finished a few more squares for various other blankets that are currently WiP!

Chocolate/Light Blue for an afghan that will be a gift

Star Overlay block for our big "family movie night cuddle blanket"

Another for the family movie night blanket

Block for my Whimsical Wonderland CAL afghan that will eventually go on our chair upstairs. A chair that matches NOTHING in our house but it belonged to my husband's grandfather so I have to make it work haha.

The blocks for the blankets are more of a "One A Week" goal rather than "One A Day" but I thought I'd include them to spice up more than the same old ripple pictures :)

Time for me to post this, get the little one settled, get my breakfast and check out everyone's updates!

FO Friday #10

Blanket #1 for 2012 is finished!

It's a small, carseat sized pink camo blanket for a friend's youngest daughter. I'm working on a second one in green camo for her son. That one should be done by next week!

To which, for the second time I thought: "At least when I'm done with these two, I won't have to make this blanket again since I've done it three times now." Nope, wrong, I have to make a full sized (6 snowflakes by 7 snowflakes) one in pink camo for someone else, haha so that one isn't even started yet.

Blankets to be completed in 2012:
1. Pink camo carseat blanket --COMPLETED JANUARY 2012
2. Green camo carseat blanket (should be done by next week)
3. Pink camo full sized blanket (doesn't need to be done until Christmas so I can take my time)
4. Block A Month blanket for us (going to be a huge 6x6 blanket)
5. Block A Month blanket for a Christmas gift (needs to be complete by November)
6. Ripple blanket for us (should be done by March, it's my One A Day project)
7. Ripple blanket for a Christmas gift (starting after my other ripple is finished sometime in March)
8. Whimsical Wonderland BAM blanket for our living room (starting my January square as soon as my Deramores order arrives which should be soon I believe)

One A Day Tuesday Tallies #1

I've actually never participated in Tuesday Tallies but I started a project at the beginning of the year that I'm using for it. It's my granny ripple blanket that once, finished will go on our bed in the master bedroom!

I'm aiming for 10 rows per week (two rows of each color). The picture I have is actually a week behind because I have done two repeats of color but it's the best quality picture at the moment :) Enjoy!

The blanket (pattern and yarn) actually came in a kit from Herrschners but I've altered it to make it wider and longer (and I added in the brown). After this one is done, I've got yarn lined up to do another (smaller) version of it for someone, not to be mentioned at the moment, for a Christmas gift this year. That's right, I'm planning Christmas gifts already! Trying to get ahead of the game :)

FO Friday #8

I have been horrible with blogging this week but the upside on my end is that all the presents are wrapped and done!

Also managed to finish the Snowflake Throw which was supposed to be my last blanket for 2011 giving me a clean slate to start my two planned blankets for 2012 but more on that later. First, onto the good stuff, the finished goodness of snowflakes!

I posted a picture of the hubby holding up the finished product on Facebook and that apparently made more work for myself :-P. I now am making three more of these things for friends. Ok, more like two because I'm making smaller carseat sized versions for a friend's two youngest so those two will total about the size of one blanket. I'm also making a full sized one for another friend to give to his wife. I'm excited to try this pattern with different colors! For the two small carseat sized blankets, one will be camo and the other will be pink camo which I'm looking forward to seeing! The other full sized one is going to be a green which will be pretty. All staying with white on the snowflakes.

So in the meantime while that yarn is on its way to my door in a package, I've been busily working on my ballet camisole more. There's a KAL that starts Jan. 1 and of course it requires the size needles that my camisole is sitting on. Now surely I could just go buy another set of that size but I'm being good and finishing this one first instead!

Also looks like my Caron Simply Soft will be going towards a Haruni shawl so we'll see when I can start on that too!

Squee Sunday #1

I'm glad to keep participating in all the random blog post days from groups on Rav because honestly it keeps me motivated to blog and motivated to keep working on projects so I have something to share! I've already said I had a million projects going on but....my squee today? I convinced the hubby that we needed a giant ripple blanket for our bed and he's good with the idea! Big squee in my book for being able to buy more yarn :-P.  I think I'm going to end up getting this kit:

Normally I don't go for the kits but for the current price and being that it had the ideal color choice that we wanted, it worked out. I"ll have to buy a few extra skeins eventually (it's Herrschners Worsted 8, I love that yarn and it's a great bargain) but this will get a good start for sure!

Herrschners is also my BFF this week because they sell the Caron Simply Soft Light! I was bummed to not find it this week on my trip to various craft store (most likely because it's still too new I assume) and finding it sold out on a lot of sites but Herrschners came through and has it...in stock!

I figured I had every right to squee about something that's not physically in my hands just yet since it will be soon and I couldn't contain my excitement! Figures my first Squee Sunday post is about yarn hahahaha, that's how exciting the week has been.

Make sure to click the link above and check out what others are squee-ing about today on this lovely Autumn (with snow on the ground) Sunday.
